We are currently seeking an experienced Radio Communication Technician for a 12 month fixed term contract to join our Underground Mine Technology team based at Cadia during an exciting period of transformation. Reporting to the Coordinator – UG Mine Technology, you will be responsible for monitoring and improving both on-board and fixed infrastructure components and availability through effective servicing and execution of preventative maintenance tasks.

Your responsibilities will also include but not limited to:

• Provide Tier 1 network support for Radio infrastructure Cadia Valley Operations - VHF Cadia East UG and surface UHF
- Programming of radios
- Diagnosing equipment faults
- Repairing LF system damage from machinery and blasting
- Installation of new services for Mine development
- SAOC network hardware support
- Maintenance activities (PM's) for site infrastructure and mobile Fleet
• Assist OEM personnel and system specialists with ongoing Mine Automation Project implementation and R&D activities
• Supervision of specialist Contractors

The current roster for this role will be 7 days, 7 off.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, team oriented and enjoy continuous improvement and driving for results. You will have a minimum 3-5 years Mining experience and possess a strong background working with RF Communications infrastructure, data transfer technologies, hardware and Proximity Detection equipment. You will also have experience with diagnostics on ELV electrical, preventative maintenance on mobile fleet & technology infrastructure. Experience in CAN bus machine systems and with wireless network design and installation is also highly desirable. You will be trades qualified as an Electrician, Communications technician or Auto Electrician with the ability to multi-task and priorities in high pressure situations. You will be results driven and possess a proactive approach to your work with demonstrated experience to be a self-starter, ability to work autonomously and be pro-active towards problem resolution.
