2 x Radio and Communications Technicians

We are currently seeking 2 x experienced Radio and Communications Technicians, to join our Operational Technology team during an exciting period of transformation and growth. Reporting to the Senior Engineer (Operational Technology), you will be accountable for managing the day to day maintenance and continuous improvement of RF communication systems. You will also help ensure that RF systems are operating in compliance with the terms of licenses. Furthermore, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation and integration of our upcoming Radio Upgrade Transformation Project.
The key accountabilities for this role are as follows:
- Ensure safe, reliable and effective operation & maintenance of radio frequency communications systems across our surface operations.
- Maintain the RF licence register with AMCA and ensure the site holds all required licences.
- Deliver technical expertise on the integration of new systems with existing site infrastructure.
- Demonstrate and provide leadership in your field to contract miners on site.
- Conduct performance evaluations to identify operational limitations and initiate steps to enhance system performance;
- Perform day to day maintenance across a wide range of VHF, UHF, Microwave, Satellite and FM systems.
The current roster for this role is 8 days on, 6 days off (6am – 6pm) and will operate with a back to back counterpart on site.
Located in the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days.
To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, team oriented and enjoy continuous improvement. With extensive experience in Radio and Communication technology in a similar civilian or military role, this will be coupled with a Communications trade certificate. Ideally with experience from Mining, Oil and Gas or similar heavy industry. Exposure in dealing with both digital and analogue communications systems, and previous experience with MOTOTRBO equipment will be advantageous. You will possess excellent stakeholder communication skills, enabling you to develop and maintain relationships with other teams on site.
