Join our Geotechnical team based at our Cadia site during an exciting period of transformation. Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be working on an advanced new project developing the excavations for our new mine as an integral member of the team providing strong geotechnical support and services to Underground and Surface Operations.

Who we’re looking for
You will provide strong geotechnical guidance to underground operations, assisting the execution of development, monitoring excavation performance and identifying business improvements. You will be responsible for going underground and inspecting excavations, verifying design input parameters such as geological structures and assessing in situ static demand. You will bring strong communication skills to the role as you will be liaising with operators, supervisors and technicians daily, and assisting development teams in mitigating geotechnical hazards.
You will be driven and keen to get underground and comfortable working autonomously with excellent skills at building relationships across various departments. You will have a sound knowledge of rock mechanics, will be familiar with rock mass characterisation, and strong analytical skills. You ideally will come from a mining or civil engineering background and have hands on experience with underground excavations.
You will also ideally possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical, Civil or Mining engineering (essential)
- Previous experience with underground excavations
- Previous experience in hard rock underground mining is advantageous
- Proficiency with 3D modelling software (Leapfrog, Deswik, Surpac, etc.)Experience with seismic monitoring systems and other geotechnical monitoring systems
