Senior Manager – Business Development and M&A

Reporting into the Head of Business Development, the primary purpose of this role is to assist with the identification, analysis, and execution of Merger, Acquisition and Divestment activities for Newcrest Mining Limited.

Who we’re looking for

As a key member of the Business Development Team, responsible for contributing to company performance, you will bring to life Newcrest’s corporate strategy, working closely with our exploration teams and other internal functions including legal, tax, accounting & finance.

You will be responsible for identifying exciting M&A and divestment opportunities, preparing business cases and ensuring you are maintaining an active and strong pipeline of potential and upcoming ventures. Additionally, you will lead the M&A and divestment analysis, including undertaking financial evaluations, safeguarding alignment with corporate and growth strategy as well as key analysis of risks associated, to facilitate decision making.

Another key component of the position is the M&A and divestment execution, coordinating in consultation with investment banks, legal advisors and internal teams all whilst promoting and maintaining confidentiality.

As an experienced senior professional, your skills will demonstrate:

  • Proven track record in a similar position ideally working in a mining environment (we will also consider significant experience in natural resources or another commodity focused industry)
  • A wealth of knowledge working in M&A, financial modeling and transactions - international and global exposure is highly advantageous
  • Additional expertise with a mix of business development, corporate finance, investment banking, management consulting or private equity background will support success.
  • Previous leadership experience or aspiration to become a leader
  • Confident ability to formulate, execute and review strategy across a global landscape.
