About the Role
The Newmont Lihir Gold Mine operations have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Senior Specialist – Oxygen Mechanical to join the collaborative Processing Plant team.
In this role, you will provide specialised Oxygen Mechanical technical support to the maintenance team. To achieve Oxygen Plant operation optimisation, you will provide a basic level of engineering and advanced training to the Maintenance and operation teams.
You will ideally draw on your years of operations and maintenance experience to implement systems and training so that the national development and progression is enhanced further.
This role will be working a 22:20 roster and is offered on a 2-year Fixed Term-Full time basis.
Your key accountabilities include:
Facilitate and coordinate the alignment of maintenance activities and strategy with the production plan
Oversee the safe, efficient, and effective execution of maintenance work, including major shutdowns to ensure optimised availability of the plant equipment at Oxygen Plant
Provide technical input into the development of the weekly and yearly Maintenance plan
Coordinate external contractor/ OEM support for annual inspections, testing/ calibration
Co-ordinate Maintenance Operational Readiness work for the section
Participate in critical failure analysis where applicable and proactive process safety reviews
Provide technical input to develop plans to safely commission the plant in their area after completion of works
Assess competency, develop competency assessments and training documentation to further develop the workforce
Conduct Safety Interactions, coaching, & ensuring incidents are reported & investigated
Drive and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible safety leadership
Essential criteria
Extensive experience in maintenance roles working in large-scale cryogenic gas or oxygen processing plants
Experience in the planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary shutdowns and maintenance projects
Previous experience working in Supervisory roles
Trade qualification in a Mechanical trade including Mechanical Fitter and Turner, Machinist, aircraft mechanic or large compressor technician
Ability to interpret Engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and standards
Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines
Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building and training
Desirable criteria
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
Demonstrated knowledge of a CMMS (SAP desirable), Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, & MS Project
Previous Expatriate experience working in a remote location with developing nations
Proven track record delivering result in small team environments

Must be open to FIFO in PNG
Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
Must be able to complete a National Police Check
