The role will have responsibility to:

  • Ensure personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirement and policies including Fitness for work.
  • Complete any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any correction are firstly agreed by the relevant Supervisor.
  • Conducts mechanical maintenance on mobile fleet by ensuring a high level of understanding of operational issues including fault diagnosis, repairs and equipment performance.
  • Perform preventative mechanical maintenance activities of technicians.
  • Leads and monitors mechanical maintenance activities of technicians.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are in compliance with OEM recommendation and only genuine OEM parts are used.
  • Ensure maintenance records for mobile fleet are kept current.

Essential Criteria

Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;

  • Diesel Fitting or Mechanical Trades qualification certification essential.
  • 3 – 5 years relevant work experience essential in large scale mining operation or heavy industry.
  • Previous experience in delivery and assessment of training desirable.
  • Relevant experience in maintaining equipment in mobile fleet.
  • Skilled in the use of SAP software to manage day to day planning and scheduling of maintenance activities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self – motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time.
  • High attention to details with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening and interpersonal skills.
  • PNG Driver’s License – Class Six (6) essential.

The Requirements

  • This opportunity is open to PNG citizens and to those who are currently employed by Newmont.
  • Must be available for FIFO to Lihir
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
