Our Lihir operation in Processing Department is now recruiting for the position of Technician – Operations for FIFO role based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).

 

The role will have responsibility to:

 

  • Ensures personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
  • Completes any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any corrections are firstly agreed by the relevant Supervisor.
  • Carries out routine plant operation tasks as directed by immediate Supervisor, in accordance with established procedures and NML HSE requirements.
  • Ensures plant safely operated and that oxygen production is consistently provided at required levels and high efficiencies.
  • Effectively manages own time to complete tasks in line with job expectations and requirements adjusting plans to cater for unforeseen events / disruptions.
  • Recognises problems and proactively works towards resolution under the guidance of immediate Supervisor.
  • Recognises opportunities to minimise waste and addresses it according to the HSE and operational standards and practices.
  • Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities and identifies & reports any cost wastage within designated area.

 

Essential Criteria

 

Ideally, our preferred applicant will have:

  • 1 – 3 years relevant work experience in continuous process operations is essential
  • Experience in cryogenic gases operation is desirable.
  • Experience in ASU industry is desirable.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills.

 

The Requirements

 

  • This opportunity is open to PNG citizens and to those who are currently employed by Newmont.
  • Must be available for FIFO to Lihir
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
