Our Brucejack operation is now recruiting for a Training Supervisor with a competitive base salary between $118,000-$130,000 dependent on experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity with an additional short-term incentive of 15%.

Reporting to the Training Superintendent, the Training Supervisor will assist in leading the Training Team in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the site’s Occupational Health and Safety and Training programs. In addition, the role will provide the necessary support and advice to Managers, Supervisors, Employees and Contractors that will drive the safety culture on the mine site towards zero injuries.

Training Leadership and Departmental Support

Support the implementation of a systems approach to Training:

  • Lead the Training Team in the absence of the Training Superintendent
  • Participate in the overall implementation of training programs, in a manner that supports the organizations’ Vision and Values.
  • Lead training assessments and documentation control, for all site training requirements in conjunction with the trainers.
  • Standardize training practices and tracking systems; lead and/or support the LMS integration project.
  • Ensure training provided is measured, documented, and understood.
  • Supervise and contribute to building a program which measures the effectiveness of the training courses, training materials and delivery.
  • Manage and ensure resources are available and implemented; to effectively conduct programs across all areas of responsibility.
  • Coordinate and track external training requests.

Support the various departments to meet their operation targets:

  • Ensure the training mailbox is monitored and delegate training requests to the appropriate trainer.
  • Create new training material, in concert with the SME, according to operational needs.
  • Optimize training schedules and resources to meet the needs of all departments.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of training programs, improvement initiatives and training KPIs which align with the site vision and operational strategies.

Lead and support key influencers, including managers, on strategies to foster an organizational culture that prioritizes H&S:

  • Provide leadership and lead by example of exemplary H&S practices and behaviors to peers, co-workers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the various departments to ensure they are demonstrating due diligence with training practices, including refresher training, and meeting all provincial and federal training requirements. Have personnel trained to perform their operational needs.
  • Encourage and motivate departmental management and supervision, to practice due diligence and to give appropriate priority to training and H&S in relation to other business objectives.
  • Support identification and implementation of critical controls for effective H&S risk management.

Optimize and develop training material according to the site’s needs:

  • Prioritize and evaluate training material that can be done online and develop the online learning material, collaborating with the SME.
  • Identifying training needs and providing recommendations on programs and activities.
  • Ensure training practices meet the needs of adult learning and various learning styles.
  • Develop and improve operational or safety training material.
  • Design and administer training programs.
  • Providing expertise in development design.

People & Development

  • Collaborate and communicate with Superintendent regarding cross-over requirements and activities.
  • Supervise the training team members in their daily tasks and projects.
  • Provide appropriate direction regarding team objectives.
  • Supervise and coach trainers and provide additional learning opportunities to optimize their skill set.
  • Review employee evaluation from training sessions and provide feedback on improvement opportunities.
  • Support the development/coaching of key personnel for career development.
  • Manage performance, when required.

About You:

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:  

  • Qualifications in Safety, Training, Operations, or a related discipline 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in an equivalent level site operational role at a large-scale operation mining operations or a similar training role in a related industry
  • Experience implementing an LMS and working with online training.
  • Demonstrates initiative.
  • Organized and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience managing a broad range of activities.
  • Familiar with the BC Mines Acts & Regulations
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications are mandatory. 
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Additional Information

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to work in close quarters with a team.
