Our Cadia operation in MINING PROJECTS is now recruiting for the position of FOREMAN – MINING INFRASTRUCTURE & RAISEBORING

Cadia is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Who we’re looking for  

Reporting to the Superintendent, The Foreman – Mining Infrastructure & Raiseboring is responsible for the safe and productive operation of the mining infrastructure, cable bolting and raise boring activities within Mining Projects scopes at Cadia.

The role has a strong emphasis on the planning, co-ordination, and implementation of civil infrastructure and cable bolting activities to achieve desired quality, cost and schedule outcomes, in addition to the co-ordination, support, and delivery of an extensive Raiseboring program to achieve safe and productive outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure safety, operational, cost and quality outcomes are achieved in accordance with agreed plans.
  • Comply with Newmont standards, procedures and policies and government legislation.
  • Implement and monitor safe systems of work through task observations, safe behaviour observations and workplace inspections.
  • Proactive involvement in safety, quality and business improvements.
  • Undertake specific tasks as directed by the Mining Infrastructure and Raiseboring Superintendent.
  • Challenge the conventional way of conducting business finding a better way in efficiencies and process
  • Provide planning, scoping, and resources inputs into the weekly schedule and to be delivered as committed.
  • Achieving Underground Mining Department budget quantities and costs, including:
  • Monitoring progress against plan and taking corrective action to achieve compliance with shift and weekly plans and eliminating waste and rework.
  • Perform shiftly, daily and weekly planning of underground activities to achieve, and exceed where possible, the requirements of the mine plan.
  • Assist in co-ordinating and monitoring the daily performance of specialist contractors (i.e. Raise Boring and Civil construction).

The ideal candidate will be able to identify and implement business improvement initiatives and have a continuous improvement mindset. Additionally, you will have demonstrated experience as a people leader, providing leadership through career development, training, coaching and performance management.

You will also possess the following: 

  • Significant operational experience in underground metalliferous mines.
  • Experienced in all or most mining activities associated with metalliferous mining.
  • Experience with Rasiebore management (eg bogging of cuttings) & Management of open voids/holes.
  • NSW Underground Mining Supervisors Ticket (highly regarded)
