In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising open pits, processing plant and an underground mine.
The Role on offer:
In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising open pits, processing plant and an underground mine. This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on an 8 days on /6 off roster.
Our Telfer Operations are currently seeking a safety-conscious and diligent Fire Systems Technician to support safe production by ensuring reliable operation, maintenance and longer-term integrity of the site wide Fire Systems including Surface & Underground operations.
Reporting to the Fire Systems Supervisor, key deliverables of this role include:
Maintenance of equipment in a reliable and cost-efficient condition
Leading by example in adherence to company policies and procedures
Monitoring and reporting on status of Fire Systems and equipment, and ensuring statutory paperwork is kept to a high standard
Provide guidance to fire technicians short & long term
Foster a culture of continuous improvement
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will have a demonstrated track record in continuous improvement of assets with competencies in Fire Detection & Alarm Systems, Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems & (Sprinkler Systems). You will be a forward-looking team member with excellent work-ethics and a passion for continuous improvement. Experience with Wet, Deluge and Foam Deluge Sprinkler Systems and PEFS will be advantageous as well.
In addition to the above key skills, you will also ideally have:
Proven experience in maintenance, commissioning, inspection or testing of fire of fire systems with exposure to large scale mining and process plant operations & maintenance
Good computer skills – proficient in SAP or similar computerised maintenance management system and Microsoft package
Sound knowledge of Acts, Regulations and Australian Standards
Sprinkler Fitter Trade, Electrical or Mechanical Trade qualification will be highly regarded
Willingness and the ability to work underground
Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Tagging or
Certificate III in Electrotechnology
High commitment to safety along with excellent decision making and delegation skills
Computer literacy and understanding of SAP will be beneficial
Current C Class drivers’ license
